African Women Chartered Accountants (AWCA) spearheads solidarity among women in Sandton
The African Women Chartered Accountants (AWCA) recently hosted the Woman of Substance conference and banquet at the Standard Bank Global Leadership Centre in Morningside, Illovo. The event aimed to foster collaboration and empowerment among women in corporate spaces, bringing together 120 women from across Gauteng.
The conference began with a keynote address by AWCA president Buhle Hanise, highlighting the importance of breaking down barriers created by patriarchy and promoting women’s empowerment through collaborative networks.
One of the panel discussions, titled Collaboration for Change, focused on harnessing diversity to shape the future. The panel featured industry experts Nyawa Dikwayo, Ntombi Mbele, and Bongi Ngoma, who shared insights on education, inclusive business communities, and the power of collaboration in overcoming scarcity mindsets.
The sessions were skillfully moderated by Noluthando Mthonti-Mlambo. The second panel discussed the evolution of women leaders in South Africa, with contributions from Thebelihle Ngema-Mafuya, Nana Phiri, and Zee Harduth, highlighting the achievements and challenges faced by women in leadership roles.
The day concluded with a fundraising banquet at the Galleria in Kramerville, bringing together all attendees to support the initiative of empowering women through collaboration and solidarity.
