ANC is celebrating while SA suffers

DA leader John Steenhuisen has laid accusations at the country’s governing party. Jacaranda FM reports that he said the ANC is celebrating while SA suffers as it toasts its 112th year of existence in Mbombela this week.

Steenhuisen was briefing the media on steps the DA plans to take against Higher Education Minister Nzimande amid claims of NSFAS corruption.

He says the ANC only cares about protecting their ability to loot.

“Today, you will see pictures of ANC leaders eating cake and popping champagne. With every bite they take, with every single sip they savour, the ANC celebrates the suffering of the people. The tentacles of corruption that feed the ANC have now identified a new target, South Africa’s students.”

His remarks come after the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA) revealed leaked recordings which exposed corruption allegations involving Minister Blade Nzimande and National Student Financial Aid Scheme chairperson Ernest Khosa.

According to OUTA, service providers awarded multi-million rand tenders to administer direct payment to students and allegedly paid kickbacks to Khosa, Nzimande and the South African Communist Party in return for tenders and protection for service providers.

Meanwhile, the National Student Financial Aid Scheme says it’s working to disburse outstanding allowances to students from 2023 by 15 January.
