Alberton Chinese Kickboxing Fight Club (ACKB) fighters have once again demonstrated their prowess by achieving success in provincial kickboxing competitions. Most recently, the club’s fighters emerged victorious at the Battle of the East, hosted at the Brakpan Indoor Sports Centre. This competition, sanctioned by the South Africa Kickboxing Association, attracted participants from various regions across the Gauteng province who came together to compete and represent their respective areas.

The fighters from Alberton-based ACKB showcased exceptional skills during the competition, establishing themselves as formidable contenders. With eight fighters in the lineup, the team secured an impressive tally of 13 gold, six silver, and one bronze medal.

Notably, six out of the eight fighters were newcomers to competitive fighting, displaying remarkable performances. Their coaches attribute this success to six months of rigorous training, hard work, and unwavering dedication.

Coach Yvette Schlotfeldt, an experienced martial arts practitioner, emphasized the disciplined focus required in kickboxing, highlighting its extensive benefits beyond mere aggression. She underscored that martial arts entail a blend of technique and artistry in combat, serving as a valuable form of exercise that aids in weight management, imparts self-defense skills, enhances cognitive functions such as memory and focus, and promotes cardiovascular health.

Schlotfeldt encourages parents to engage their children and adolescents in physical sports activities to foster an active and healthy lifestyle.
