This operation, which was carried out in collaboration with Actonville SAPS, Crime Prevention Wardens, and private security firms, aims to reduce the proliferation of illegal weapons in communities. Captain Neldah Sekgobela, the SAPS Ekurhuleni district communications officer, stated that the police received a tip-off about a man harbouring firearms in a specific block of the hostel.
Upon searching the man’s room, the police discovered the firearms. Subsequently, they arrested him when he failed to produce licenses for them. The suspect has since been charged and appeared in court.
