South African Fuel Prices Set to Drop in April – Relief for Consumers

Published

on

In a significant development for South African motorists, fuel prices will see a substantial decrease in April, with petrol prices dropping by as much as 88 cents per litre and diesel by 96 cents per litre.

As reported by Daily Investor, the upcoming fuel price adjustments, based on data from the Central Energy Fund, are as follows:

  • Petrol 93 – down by 74 cents per litre

  • Petrol 95 – down by 88 cents per litre

  • Diesel 0.05% – down by 94 cents per litre

  • Diesel 0.005% – down by 96 cents per litre

This reduction is attributed to several global factors, including a stable rand-dollar exchange rate, reduced international oil prices, and increased oil supply from OPEC. The potential for a US-brokered resolution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict is also expected to have a positive impact on fuel prices,Daily Maverick reports.

Additionally, the gold price remains strong, providing further support for the rand and helping to mitigate the effects of global market volatility. This price decrease follows a trend of declining fuel costs that began in late 2024 and is expected to provide relief to consumers facing rising transport expenses. Experts believe that this reduction could ease inflation and bring down overall costs for South African households.
