South African Airways (SAA) pilots have agreed to a revised salary and benefits package, bringing an end to their work-to-rule protest and concluding the 2024 wage negotiations.

SAA Group CEO Prof. M John Lamola welcomed the decision, praising the pilots for their renewed commitment to the airline’s long-term success. “We are pleased to see the pilots recommit to their roles and return to the flight deck,” he said, as reported by IOL.

The agreement follows stalled negotiations between the SAA Pilots’ Association (SAAPA) and the National Transport Movement, which had prolonged the strike. This marks the second industrial action by SAA pilots in four months, with a previous strike disrupting operations before being resolved within two days.

During the work-to-rule protest, pilots and ground staff adhered strictly to their contracted hours, leading to potential delays. With this resolution, normal operations are expected to resume, restoring stability to SAA’s flight schedule.
