Pilot Dies in Pretoria Plane Crash as Investigations Begin

A solo pilot died on Saturday afternoon after a small aircraft went down in an open veld near Boschkop, Pretoria. Emergency responders arrived shortly after the crash but found the pilot had already succumbed to fatal injuries.
The crash occurred just after 16:00, according to the Volunteer Emergency Medical Response Unit, which was first on the scene. They confirmed that no other individuals were onboard the aircraft and no additional injuries were reported.
“We arrived to find a small, single-seater plane that had crashed in the veld. The pilot was declared dead on arrival,” the unit said in a brief statement.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear. The South African Police Service (SAPS) has taken control of the scene, and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) will lead the investigation into what caused the aircraft to go down.
At this stage, authorities have not released the identity of the pilot or any details about where the aircraft departed from or was headed.
