“We can’t wait for the winner to claim their prize. It’s always fulfilling to hear how such a significant win transforms someone’s life and to witness firsthand the impact it has,” said Mabuza.
Since the beginning of the year, ten players have won multi-million-rand prizes across Lotto and PowerBall draws. Ithuba has paid out a staggering R486 million in winnings so far in 2025.
The lottery operator also reminded players that all tickets remain valid for 365 days from the draw date, and winnings are typically paid out within 72 hours of a valid claim. Notably, all National Lottery winnings in South Africa are tax-free.
For winnings of R50,000 and above, Ithuba provides trauma counseling and financial advice to help winners manage their new wealth responsibly.
One of the most notable recent wins was a staggering R102 million PowerBall jackpot, where the winner had spent R100 on their ticket, purchased through the FNB banking app.
