Police Hunt for Suspects After Attempted ATM Bombing in Lenasia

Gauteng police are on the hunt for five suspects following an attempted ATM bombing in Lenasia, south of Johannesburg, on Thursday morning. The incident escalated into a shootout with police, leaving one suspect dead and two others injured.

According to police spokesperson Nonkululeko Phokane, four suspects were arrested at the scene, while two others were hospitalized due to injuries sustained during the confrontation. “A shootout ensued, resulting in one suspect deceased, four arrested, and two hospitalized. Five suspects remain at large, and police are actively pursuing them,” Phokane said.

The suspects are believed to be linked to a series of ATM bombings across Gauteng and nearby provinces. Police have intensified their efforts to apprehend the remaining individuals involved in the criminal activities.
