City Power Urges Patience Amid Northcliff Power Outages
City Power has called for patience from residents affected by power outages, assuring them that teams are working tirelessly to restore supply. The utility has been grappling with a surge in outages across Johannesburg, primarily caused by persistent wet weather since last week.
The inclement weather has significantly hindered City Power’s response times, particularly in areas like Northcliff, where outages persist. The utility highlighted that heavy rains had compounded technical challenges, delaying repairs and maintenance work.
To address the backlog of outage calls, City Power has increased its resources:
- Additional Technicians and Contractors: Staff who were previously unavailable have returned to bolster repair efforts.
- Expanded Workforce: More teams are now on the ground to speed up repairs in the most affected areas.
“It is only this part of Northcliff that is still having these issues, but we are working hard to deal with them,” said spokesperson Isaac Mangena.
City Power expressed relief that weather conditions had started to improve, enabling technicians to work more efficiently.
“We are happy that currently, it seems like the weather gods are on our side, and we can expedite some of the work that needs to happen,” Mangena added.
Key Takeaways for Residents
- Reporting Issues: Residents experiencing power outages are encouraged to report issues promptly through official City Power channels.
- Patience Requested: Despite the challenges, City Power is committed to resolving all outstanding issues as quickly as possible.
