Mpumalanga police are investigating a murder case following the deaths of two victims at Sheba Siding in Low’s Creek. The victims were shot and killed on Wednesday afternoon when two armed men entered one of the victims’ homes.

Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, provincial police spokesperson, explained that the two gunmen followed a 40-year-old man as he moved behind the house. Shortly after, gunshots rang out, and the two men were seen holding firearms.

One of the victims, a man inside the house, emerged with his own firearm and managed to shoot the suspects before fleeing the scene.

However, a 47-year-old neighbour, who had heard the gunshots, peered out of her shack and was tragically shot and killed by the assailants.

After the shooting, the gunmen fled the scene, and the man who had escaped returned to find the neighbour and the other victim dead.

Upon arriving at the scene, police found empty cartridges, live ammunition, and other evidence, which was confiscated for further investigation.

No arrests have been made, and the motive for the murders remains unclear.

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward and help with the investigation. Crime Stop can be contacted at 08600 10111, or people can call Detective Sergeant George Mazibuko directly at 082 546 2039. Information can also be sent through the MYSAPSAPP.

The acting police commissioner of Mpumalanga, Major General Zeph Mkhwanazi, condemned the killings and called for swift action to apprehend those responsible.
