The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has lodged a treason case against Afrikaans civil rights group AfriForum, accusing it of lobbying the United States to interfere in South Africa’s Land Expropriation Act.

According to The Citzen, the MK Party opened the case at the Cape Town Central Police Station today, alleging that AfriForum misled US President Donald Trump about the country’s land reform policies.

AfriForum has strongly denied the claims, shifting blame onto the African National Congress (ANC) for Trump’s stance on South Africa’s land policies. The dispute stems from Trump’s recent Executive order against South Africa, which condemned the government’s alleged policy of seizing White Afrikaner land without compensation.

Trump also signed an order granting refugee status to Afrikaners, escalating tensions surrounding the land debate.

Despite Trump’s intervention, AfriForum rejected the idea of Afrikaners leaving South Africa, insisting that their future remains in the country.

“We were formed as a people in Africa, and we can only survive as a cultural community on the southern tip of Africa,” an AfriForum representative stated.

The MK Party has promised to provide further details on its legal action next Monday, raising questions about the political and legal implications of its treason charges.
