“Just Bring My Wife Back Alive”: Husband of Missing Constable Joins Emotional Plea for Safe Return of Three Officers

The desperate search continues for three young police constables who vanished without a trace last week — and now, the husband of one of the missing officers has joined the growing public plea for their safe return.
Lwazi Thepa, the husband of Constable Keamogetswe Buys (30), broke his silence during an emotional media briefing in Bloemfontein, saying he believes the police are doing everything they can, but all he wants is to have his wife home alive.
“That is all I pray for. Just bring back my wife alive. Thank you,” Thepa said, his voice heavy with emotion.
Buys, along with 20-year-old Constable Boipelo Senoge and 24-year-old Constable Cebekhulu Linda, were last seen in Gauteng in the early hours of Thursday. They had been traveling from the Free State, via Gauteng, en route to Limpopo. Their vehicle — a Volkswagen Polo with registration number JCL 401 FS — has also disappeared.
According to reports, their last known location was the Engen fuel station on the N1 highway in Gauteng. After leaving the station, their vehicle’s tracking system and all three cellphones were switched off, raising serious concerns.
Families and SAPS United in Search
Constable Linda’s uncle, Sipho Linda, echoed Thepa’s sentiments and urged South Africans to see the missing officers as “your own children.”
“Somebody must have seen something. Somebody must know something,” he said. “They were out there serving and protecting the public. Help bring them home.”
Constable Senoge’s father, Paul Senoge, also addressed the press with a tearful plea:
“Please allow us to see our family members again. If anyone knows what happened, even if it was a hijacking, just come forward.”
SAPS Puts Up R350,000 Reward for Information
National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola has confirmed a R350,000 reward for any information that could lead to the safe return of the officers — or the arrest of those involved in their disappearance.
“We are hopeful. We will not rest,” Masemola told journalists, alongside Free State Premier Maqueen Letsoha-Mathae and SAPS senior leadership. “We urge anyone with solid and concrete information to come forward.”
Information can be reported directly to the investigating officer, Captain Chaacha Manga, at 082 527 6099.
Disappearance of Journalist Also Under Investigation
In a separate but equally troubling case, the African Media and Communicators Forum confirmed that Pretoria-based journalist Sibusiso Aserie Ndlovu and his partner Zodwa Mdhluli have been missing since February 18. A reward of R50,000 has been offered for information related to their disappearance.
Chairperson Elijah Mhlanga emphasized the urgency of the situation:
“This reward is to support the police investigation. We continue to appeal to the public to help us find Sibusiso and Zodwa.”
If you have any information related to either case, contact the nearest police station or SAPS Crime Stop at 08600 10111.
