Miss South Africa 2025 Embraces Inclusivity with Expanded Entry Requirements

The Miss South Africa organisation has officially opened entries for Miss SA 2025, introducing broader and more inclusive entry criteria that have ignited public discussion.
For the first time, applicants can be up to 32 years old on August 30, a change from the previous age cap of 30. According to the organisation, “This means an applicant can turn 32 during her year of reign. Previously, an applicant could only turn 30 in the year of reign.”
In a further departure from tradition, there are no height, weight, marital, or parental status restrictions. The updated criteria aim to welcome a more diverse group of contestants from all walks of life.
Entries opened on Wednesday and will close on April 11. Interested candidates are required to apply at www.misssa.co.za, complete a questionnaire, upload two colour photographs (one headshot and one full-body), and submit a link to their entry video. The video must also be shared on the entrant’s personal social media channels.
As part of the process, contestants will be invited to a special masterclass session featuring experts who will provide tips and insights on how to stand out in the competition. Reigning Miss South Africa, Mia le Roux, offered heartfelt advice to those considering entering.

“The most important thing you can do is to come in with an open heart and an open mind because this journey will challenge you to explore who you are and what you stand for. If you embrace the journey fully, you will come out knowing yourself so much better — whether you take the crown or not,” she said.
Le Roux urged applicants to stay authentic and informed.
“Be yourself, be prepared, and understand the issues women in this country face. Having a strong work ethic matters, but so does being kind,” she said. “If you’re unsure about entering — go for it. Your voice can be a force for change, and the Miss SA platform will amplify it.”

Reflecting on her own experience, Le Roux shared that her journey had exceeded all expectations.
“Your life changes forever, but even more meaningful is the chance to change others’ lives. Every woman who wears the crown redefines what it means to be powerful — and with every new queen, that definition grows.”
