Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, is facing potential legal action over her newly launched lifestyle brand, As Ever, after officials in a small Spanish town raised concerns about its logo.

Spanish Town Accuses Meghan’s Brand of Copying Coat of Arms

Meghan announced As Ever on Instagram, revealing a logo featuring a palm tree flanked by two hummingbirds. However, officials in Porreres, a village in Mallorca, claim the emblem closely resembles their traditional coat of arms, which has the same imagery.

Porreres Mayor Xisca Mora called the similarities “surreal” and confirmed that the town hall is reviewing possible legal action. “I don’t know if she visited some agritourism sites and saw the coat of arms, because the photo on her website is taken from Mallorca,” she said. Despite the dispute, Mora acknowledged that the unexpected link to Meghan’s brand has given the small town of 5,000 international attention.

Hummingbird Symbolism and the Rebranding of ‘As Ever’

Hummingbirds hold special significance for Prince Harry, as he mentioned in his 2023 memoir, Spare. He recalled seeing one shortly after the passing of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Meghan also shared insights into her rebranding decision, having initially planned to name the company American Riviera Orchard. “It’s a nickname for Santa Barbara, but it limited me to things that were just manufactured and grown in this area,” she explained.

She described As Ever as a name she had secured in 2022, adding, “It essentially means ‘as it’s always been.’ If you’ve followed me since 2014 with The Tig, you know I’ve always loved cooking, crafting, and gardening. Now I can share it again.”
