ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula has strongly rejected claims of a “white genocide” in South Africa, labeling them as baseless and part of a false narrative.

Recently, these claims have gained attention, with South African-born billionaire Elon Musk drawing attention to what he described as a media silence on the alleged genocide occurring in his homeland. Musk’s remarks were supported by former President Donald Trump, who responded by signing an executive order to freeze US aid to South Africa, citing concerns over the country’s Expropriation Bill, which passed in January.

Mbalula’s Rejection of False Claims

In response to the growing claims, Mbalula condemned the allegations of a white genocide, emphasizing that they were part of a misleading agenda. During a recent appearance, he argued that relations between South Africa and the United States should not be influenced by “lies” propagated by certain groups, which he said were rooted in falsehoods.

He specifically pointed to the claims backed by AfriForum, describing them as a fabricated narrative that has no basis in reality. “This is an unfounded fabrication, and that’s all we know,” Mbalula stated, highlighting the absence of any legitimate evidence behind the claims.

Diplomatic Outreach for Better Understanding

Mbalula urged the US administration to engage in dialogue with South Africa regarding the Expropriation Bill. “If President Trump and his administration can sit down with South Africa to understand the origins of this act, they would realize it is not what it is being made out to be,” he suggested. He added that for the US to take a stance based solely on misinformation was a form of neocolonialism.

The ANC leader emphasized that South Africa would not tolerate any infringement on its sovereignty or the freedoms the country fought for during its history. “The idea of so-called genocide is a fallacy,” he asserted, stressing that it was an issue that South Africans firmly rejected.
