Mashaba Calls for Evidence on Genocide Claims After White South Africans Rally at US Embassy

Published

on

Herman Mashaba, leader of ActionSA, has strongly criticized a recent rally outside the US embassy in Pretoria where a group of white South Africans handed over a petition to President Donald Trump, accusing the South African government of targeting the Afrikaner community. Mashaba described the group’s actions as treasonous and demanded that anyone claiming genocide against white South Africans present tangible evidence to the South African government, not a foreign nation.

The rally, which occurred on Saturday, featured hundreds of white South Africans protesting against policies and laws they believe are discriminatory toward their race. The group also reportedly sang the apartheid-era anthem, Die Stem, raising further tensions. Mashaba’s reaction was swift, accusing the protestors of betraying the country.

A Call for Accountability

Mashaba expressed his belief that any white South African with evidence of genocide should bring it to local authorities. “If they have evidence, why not present it to us, the people of South Africa?” he asked in an interview with The Citizen. He emphasized that bringing such claims to a foreign government, instead of the South African authorities, was problematic.

“These are the same people who oppressed us brutally in the past, and now they are claiming to be victims. This is a serious issue,” Mashaba continued. He further stated that anyone accusing the government of mistreating white farmers should present their claims in front of South Africa’s parliament.

Addressing Crime and Violence

Mashaba also pointed out that more black South Africans are affected by crime and violence than white people, challenging the notion that white citizens are the primary victims. He stressed that South Africa has been plagued by violence since the apartheid era, but today, the focus should be on addressing issues affecting the majority of citizens, who are black.

Expropriation Act and AfriForum’s Role

Mashaba also voiced his full support for the controversial Expropriation Act, which has stirred tensions between South Africa and the United States. This law allows for the expropriation of land without compensation under certain conditions, such as when land is underutilized or when owners make unreasonable demands.

Meanwhile, lobby group AfriForum has been accused of spreading misinformation about the alleged mistreatment of white South Africans, which led to the cancellation of US foreign aid to South Africa and an offer of refugee status for Afrikaans farmers. Despite this, some farmers have refused the offer, instead urging the US to put pressure on South Africa to change its laws.

Mashaba’s call for accountability highlights the growing divide in South Africa regarding race relations and government policies. As tensions continue to rise, his stance reflects a strong commitment to national unity and holding those who threaten the country’s security accountable.
