Limpopo police have launched a manhunt for suspects involved in a daring carjacking that saw a Toyota Corolla and a white Toyota Hilux bakkie stolen simultaneously in Madimbo village, within the Tshamutumbu policing precinct.

According to police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, a 51-year-old man from Tshiungani village received a call on March 22, informing him that his stolen goods had been located and asking him to assist in recovering them.

Upon arriving at the location in Madimbo bushes, he found his vehicle parked next to another car. As he attempted to call the police, gunshots rang out from the nearby bushes, forcing him and others to flee. The suspects then took both vehicles and sped away.

Police were alerted and responded swiftly. The Toyota Corolla was recovered near the scene, while the Toyota Hilux bakkie, valued at R375,000, was later found abandoned at Gate 32 near the Limpopo River, stripped of its radio system.

Limpopo Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe commended the Cross-Border Neighbourhood Watch for assisting in the recovery of both vehicles, emphasizing the success of joint efforts in tackling cross-border crime.

Authorities have urged anyone with information to assist in the investigation. Those with details can contact Sergeant Lufuno Phanuel Mulaudzi at 071 397 0443, call Crime Stop at 08600 10111, visit their nearest police station, or use the MySAPSApp.
