“Nobody Deserves to Die Like That”: Father Demands Justice After Daughter’s Brutal Murder in Gugulethu

The father of 29-year-old Khuselwa “Coco” Ntshanga has broken his silence, months after his daughter’s body was found strangled and stuffed into a wheelie bin in Gugulethu. As the accused remain in custody, Mbuyiselo Ntshanga says his family is haunted by the gruesome details of her death and is pleading for the courts to deliver justice.

Khuselwa’s body was discovered on March 6 along Duinefontein Road in Manenberg. Commuters made the grim discovery when they noticed a pair of legs sticking out of a rubbish bin. Police soon identified the victim and uncovered a chilling backstory.

She was last seen alive at a house on Hurricane Street — a property reportedly linked to the Hard Livings gang and used as a drug den. According to police investigations, the gang suspected her of spying for a rival crew, the Fancy Boys, and allegedly tortured her before killing her. Sergeant Daryl van Noie, the lead investigator, recovered the rope used to strangle her and arrested several suspects in connection with the murder.

Five men — Denver Paulse, Shaheem van Schalkwyk, Zubair Moses, Nizaam Caesar, and Logan Bloys — have been charged. The case has been postponed to May 23, and all accused have abandoned their bail applications.

“She didn’t deserve this. No one does,” says Mbuyiselo, 59. “We are still struggling to process the cruelty. It’s been a nightmare.”

The grieving father revealed that Khuselwa had battled drug addiction since her teenage years. “She started with cigarettes in high school and later got into drugs,” he recalls. “We tried to help. She went to Johannesburg, started studying, and for a while things were getting better.”

However, a relationship with a drug dealer allegedly brought her back into the dangerous orbit of Cape Town’s gang culture. “These gangsters preyed on her vulnerabilities,” he said.

Despite the pain, Mbuyiselo remains resolute: “I want the courts to know we are watching. We want justice for our daughter. She must not become another forgotten statistic.”
