The Gauteng Liquor Board (GLB) has suspended Zanzou Night Club’s liquor license following shocking footage of bouncers assaulting patrons who allegedly failed to settle their bills.
The disturbing videos, widely circulated online, show severe misconduct by security personnel at the Tshwane nightclub. In response, the GLB immediately revoked its liquor license, citing serious violations of the law.

“This decision follows reports of severe non-compliance and egregious violations that have come to light through media and regulatory investigations,” the GLB stated.
The suspension falls under sections 106(5) and 117(1) of the Gauteng Liquor Act No. 2 of 2003. The board highlighted concerns over safety and lawful operations at Zanzou, noting the club’s failure to report the incidents to the police.
Instead of prioritizing victim welfare, Zanzou’s public response focused on reputational damage, further justifying regulatory action.
The nightclub’s license will remain suspended until a formal inquiry is completed alongside an ongoing SAPS investigation. The GLB reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring compliance with liquor laws and warned that violations would result in legal consequences.
