Tshwane Police Rescue Ga-Rankuwa Woman, Three Held for Kidnapping and Robbery

A 50-year-old woman who was kidnapped in Ga-Rankuwa earlier this week has been found and rescued by a coordinated law enforcement team in Tshwane. The operation took place on Thursday, just two days after the woman went missing.
According to Pretoria Rekord, the victim’s son reported her disappearance to the police after noticing suspicious activity on her bank account. Funds had been withdrawn without her knowledge, prompting an urgent investigation.
Captain Tintswalo Sibeko confirmed that officers tracked the suspects to a house in Karen Park, where the woman was being held. Two suspects were found at the scene, and the victim was safely recovered and provided with medical care before being reunited with her family.
The multidisciplinary operation involved officers from the Akasia and Ga-Rankuwa police stations, crime intelligence units, the Tshwane Flying Squad, the Tshwane Metro Police K9 unit, and a bank forensic team.
TimesLIVE reported that a white Volkswagen Polo believed to have been used during the kidnapping was recovered. Authorities also seized false licence plates, several cellphones, cash, and bank cards.
Three individuals — two women and a man aged between 34 and 57 — were arrested on charges of kidnapping and robbery.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate’s Court as investigations continue.
