Free State Man Dies After Violent Fight Over Dog Incident

A tragic altercation in the Free State has led to the death of a man after a violent dispute with his brother. The incident occurred on a farm near Warden, where the two men reportedly fought after one allegedly harmed the other’s dog.
Police spokesperson W/O Mmako Mophiring confirmed that a 29-year-old man has been arrested on a charge of murder. Harrismith police responded to a call at 3:45 AM on Sunday and found both brothers in critical condition, having been taken to a local hospital following the altercation.
According to Mophiring, the argument began when the deceased allegedly injured the dog of his brother, prompting the violent confrontation. Details about the breed of the dog were not disclosed.
During the fight, one of the brothers sustained a stab wound to his head and upper arm. He was conscious upon arrival at the hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment. His sibling suffered a hand injury after being beaten with a stick.
