Mystery Deepens as Three Cops Found Dead in Hennops River

Authorities are still unsure if the deaths of three Free State police officers whose bodies were recovered from the Hennops River in Centurion were the result of an accident. Investigators say they can only determine what happened once the vehicle they were travelling in is located.
The search began after the officers were reported missing while travelling from the Free State to Limpopo in a white VW Polo. Their bodies were recovered over two days, with Constables Boipelo Senoge and Cebekhulu Linda found on Monday, and their colleague Keamogetswe Buys recovered on Tuesday.
National police commissioner General Fannie Masemola said no conclusions could be drawn until the vehicle is found.
“For now, it might look like an accident. We don’t know until we find the car. Then we can conclude what happened,” he said.
CCTV footage helped guide investigators to the Hennops River, with the last sighting of the missing VW Polo at the Brakfontein interchange, heading north on the N1 highway.
Between Monday and Tuesday, five bodies were pulled from the Hennops River. Three were identified as the missing police officers. Their families travelled to Gauteng on Tuesday to identify the bodies.
The search for the missing car and further investigation into the cause of the incident are ongoing.
