Eskom Urges Prepaid Customers to Update Meters Before Nov 24 Deadline – Here’s What You Need to Know
Eskom is urging prepaid customers to update their meters before the November 24, 2024 deadline. All prepaid meters need to be updated to the Key Revision Number (KRN) 2, according to the Standard Transfer Specification Association (STSA).
If you don’t update your meter by the deadline, it won’t accept electricity tokens. So, let’s break down how you can update your meter before it’s too late!
How to Update Your Prepaid Meter
Eskom has made it easy. When you buy electricity, you will receive two 20-digit update codes in addition to your regular 20-digit token. Here’s how to update your meter:
- Enter the first 20-digit update code and wait for it to accept.
- Enter the second 20-digit update code and wait for it to accept.
- Enter your regular 20-digit token to recharge your units.
That’s it! It’s simple, and you can get it done in minutes.
What Happens If You Miss the Deadline?
Joyce Zingoni, Eskom spokesperson, warns that if you don’t update your meter by November 24, you won’t be able to load any more electricity tokens. Your meter will be inoperable. So, make sure to update your meter as soon as possible.
