Shane Hunter and Nicole da Silva Shine as 919FM Dominates Telkom SA Radio Awards

Illovo-based radio station 919FM has proven itself a force to be reckoned with, taking home top honors at the Telkom SA Radio Awards. The station was recognized for its exceptional programming, winning awards for Best Breakfast Show and Best Afternoon Drive Show at the November 30 event held at the Sandton Convention Centre.

Hosts and Shows Steal the Spotlight

Shane Hunter, host of Breakfast on Demand, clinched the title of Best Breakfast Host, while Nicole da Silva and her team from the Feel Good Drive were also celebrated. Da Silva received the award just before taking a hiatus to focus on her journey into motherhood.

Reflecting on the achievement, station manager Caren du Preez expressed immense pride in the team:

“We are beyond ecstatic, not only to be nominated for several awards but to walk away with three of them. A special shout-out to our technical manager, Matabataba Radebe, for ensuring we’re always on air and sounding our best.”

Hunter, who won two awards on the night, shared his gratitude:

Nicole da Silva, who stepped away from her role in August, expressed heartfelt thanks for the recognition:

“As the producer, presenter, and traffic reader on this show, this is such an honor. Huge thanks to Ayanda Mtshali, our brilliant newsreader, and 919FM for believing in me.”
