Ministers Provide Update on Interventions Against Illegal Mining

President Cyril Ramaphosa has given the green light to deploy 3,300 soldiers in a decisive move to address the escalating issue of illegal mining.

According to eNCA, Operation Prosper’s initiative is designed to combat and prevent illicit mining activities, uphold the rule of law and curb associated criminal elements.

A concerted effort by the Justice, Crime Prevention, and Security Cluster ministers is signalled by the deployment to tackle the pervasive challenges of illegal mining.

The cluster ministers will conduct a comprehensive briefing this Friday morning.

The government’s commitment to curbing illicit mining practices and ensuring the safety and security of affected regions is underscored by this development.
