Arrests Made in Relation to Murder of Missing Pretoria East Man
Police have made a breakthrough in the case of a missing Pretoria east man, Riaan van Lingen, who went missing on February 12. A Wingate Park Golf estate resident, Van Lingen, disappeared after leaving home for a meeting in Olifantsfontein in Ekurhuleni. His family grew concerned when his tracker and phone were off, and he failed to return home by 17:00 as expected. Last seen in Moreletapark east of Pretoria, his body was later discovered in the Vaal Rand area with gunshot wounds, according to provincial police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi.
Hijacking, Kidnapping and Murder:
On February 13, 2024, police were informed a kidnapping and subsequent murder of 61-year-old Tinus Van Lingan, who lives in Pretoria.
He was reported missing the day earlier.

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder. They were apprehended in Tembisa on Wednesday, where police also found an unlicensed firearm, police reflector jackets, and a cap. Both suspects will face charges of murder, kidnapping, and hijacking in the Vereeniging magistrate’s court soon.
