The UJ has confirmed that three injured students were taken to local hospitals for treatment, while the rest received medical attention on the university campus.
According to Emer-G-Med paramedics spokesperson Kyle van Reenen, the accident scene presented a challenging situation. One of the buses had collided, and the other had overturned, blocking the roadway. Additionally, the second bus collided with a concrete structure.
The injuries sustained by those involved ranged from minor to serious. Incident commanders set up an on-scene triage area to manage the situation effectively, and the Emer-G-Med operational centre dispatched additional resources to the scene.
