The Gauteng Provincial Treasury (GPT) has hired ten technical advisers as part of its support program to enhance financial management in local governments. The advisers will provide technical assistance in areas such as budgeting, revenue and expenditure management, supply chain management, asset management, accounting, and audit services as reported by Creamer Media’s Engineering News.

In addition, GPT aims to address financial management and reporting capacity challenges in local governments.

With the advisers’ assistance, Gauteng Finance MEC Jacob Mamabolo hopes to improve financial problems in the municipalities.

The advisers have already been deployed to Sedibeng and West Rand regions, with more placements to follow.
