Blou Bulle Club Rugby Players Given Opportunity to Shine

There is a perception that there are no higher accolades for club rugby players competing in the lower leagues of the Blue Bulls.

Contrary to this belief, outstanding players from teams in the union’s Presidents League do have the opportunity to don the beloved blue and white jersey of the Blue Bulls.

Bloubul Platteland-Span Takes the Field

The Bloubul Platteland-span, as this representative team is known, will be participating in three matches this year. They are set to face off twice, both home and away, against a representative club team from the Limpopo Blue Bulls. Additionally, they will travel to Leeudoringstad to compete against a similar team from the Leopards.

Six players from the Northerns Rugby Club in Pretoria-North have been selected for this squad. The club’s head coach, Dillan Hanafey, will also be coaching the Bloubul Platteland-span.

Exciting Matches and Victories

The first of these matches took place on September 28 at Loftus Versfeld, serving as a curtain-raiser for the Bulls’ United Rugby Championship clash against Edinburgh. The Blue Bulls emerged victorious in this thrilling encounter with a scoreline of 50-42.
