Motorists gearing up for March can expect a hike in toll fees. The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (Sanral) has announced a 6.25% increase from 1 March. Toll charges will vary, ranging from R7 to R685 under the revised fee structure.

According to the official Government Gazette, this adjustment will affect toll routes and plazas nationwide, including the Platinum Toll Road, the Huguenot Toll Road, the Tsitsikamma Toll Road, and the N17 Toll Road, as reported by News24.

Vusi Mona, Sanral’s general manager for communications and marketing, clarified that these adjustments align with inflation rates, with toll revenue allocated to maintain, operate, and enhance toll roads. The toll fees are categorised by vehicle classes, including light vehicles (class one), medium heavy vehicles (class two), large vehicles (class three), and extra-large heavy vehicles (class four).

Additionally, frequent users of toll routes may qualify for discounts.
