Bowlers make Morningside and Bryanston clubs proud
Bowls were at the heart of social activities in Morningside, where some of the Bowls South Africa men’s 2024 national championship games were hosted by the country club, between May 4–12.
The MCC men’s 4-a-side division team of Jason Evans (Skip), Robby Piketh (third), Donald Piketh (second), and Shaun Thomas (lead), finished with a silver in the tournament. That division was won by the bowling team from Bedfordview – where some of the final games were played.
The pairs division was won by Bryanston Country Club bowlers Wilson Malobolo (skip), and Prince Neluonde (lead) – taking gold home on May 12, from the East Rand.
The open singles, and senior open singles, respectively, were won by Wayne Roberts, representing Hillcrest Port Natal and Danie Schoeman, all the way from Richards Bay.
Morningside Country Club bowler Shaun Thomas won himself a bronze medal in the open singles tournament.
