Bulls can go on tour with confidence after show against Ulster

Published

Jake White’s Bulls team showcased a commendable performance by defeating Ulster 47-21 at Loftus Versfeld, marking their second consecutive win of the season. The Bulls demonstrated strength in their attack, scoring seven tries while limiting Ulster to three, with only one scored in the first half.

The ability to maintain pressure on the visitors in the second half earned praise from critics, highlighting a well-rounded performance from both the forwards and the backline.

While the Bulls’ front row players, Gerhard Steenekamp, Johann Grobbelaar, and Wilco Louw, exhibited dominance, concerns arose regarding their extensive involvement in every game throughout the season. With potential Springbok commitments looming for Steenekamp and Grobbelaar, the Bulls must secure adequate backups, particularly for Louw.

Amid initial doubts surrounding the acquisition of Henry (Boeta) Chamberlain, the young flyhalf showcased his potential during the recent match. Chamberlain’s kicking prowess, speed, and promising performance suggest a bright future within the team.

The Bulls are set to embark on a three-week tour, including matches against Ospreys and Scarlets in Wales, as well as a game against Benetton in Italy.
