IOL reports that the South African team’s victory against Italy in the knock-out rounds of the Group G clash in Wellington on Wednesday has sparked nationwide celebrations. Messages congratulating the team have been pouring in, with many expressing excitement about their next match. Esteemed media darling Bonang Matheba and award-winning radio personality Anele Mdoda were among those who hailed the women’s team for its victory.

Bonang Matheba took to Twitter, exclaiming, “WE’RE WITHIN!!! Re TSEEEENE, knock-out stages!!! CONGRATULATIONS, banyana ba rona!! Wow, wow.”

Anele Mdoda shared a video of the team chanting the famous song “Hamba Wena,” expressing how proud they made the country. “Nguweeeeee igondo yam. Ladies, you have made us so happy,” she tweeted.

Sports journalist Robert Marawa also voiced his unwavering support for the team, expressing his belief in their abilities to qualify for the Last 16 of the #FIFAWWC.
