In Hammanskraal, SAWS* conducts workshops to educate community leaders about weather warnings to bolster resilience to severe weather. In Tshwane’s north, Hammanskraal has endured severe storms causing property damage and flooding, as reported by Jacaranda FM. SAWS strives to foster WeatherSMART communities, stressing safety, information, alertness, resilience, and timely weather access.

SAWS officials engage community leaders to brainstorm effective ways to disseminate weather warnings. They’ll establish communication chains for prompt household warning delivery. Also, a community outreach initiative empowers vulnerable groups with weather event information and preventive measures. SAWS CEO Ishaam Abader will address the program, joined by Disaster Management Authorities and organisations like the Red Cross.

Through collaborative outreach, SAWS seeks to bolster resilience and safety in Hammanskraal and similar weather-prone regions.
