Kgololo playgrounds

Excitement filled the air at Kgololo Academy as principal Nelly Hlongwa welcomed the newly revamped Kgololo playgrounds, much to the delight of her learners. The playgrounds of Alexandra’s only private school, founded by ‘uMakoti’ Waahida Tolbert-Mbatha from the United States of America, have recently been freed from dilapidation. Hlongwa graciously accepts the revamped playground, equipped with playing equipment and fresh decorations, catering to primary learners from Grade R to Grade 6. Kgololo Academy, meaning ‘freedom’ in Setswana, is the first 50 schools and nursery schools earmarked for a facelift in the iconic township.

The Aeroton Bakery of Sasko spearheaded the revamping initiative, with distribution manager Luyolo Paliso expressing optimism about the transformation. Paliso reveals that the playgrounds’ new lease on life will be activated starting in April to complete all 50 projects by November this year. These facelifts extend beyond mere playgrounds, encompassing recreational spaces within the township that early childhood development centres and the wider community can share.
