South African sensation Tyla is preparing for a milestone moment in her career as she gets ready to perform at the iconic Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, which kicks off this Friday at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.

The Grammy-winning “Water” hitmaker will share the stage with some of the world’s biggest music stars, including Lady Gaga, Travis Scott, Post Malone, Ed Sheeran, Missy Elliott, Charli XCX, Megan Thee Stallion, and Blackpink’s Lisa and Jennie.

Tyla will represent South Africa and the continent alongside Nigerian artists Rema and Seun Kuti, and Ghanaian-American singer Amaarae. With 144 acts on the lineup, Coachella promises a high-energy showcase across two weekends from April 11–13 and April 18–20, attracting more than 125,000 attendees and millions of viewers online.

General admission tickets priced at $399 (about R7,753) are already sold out. However, resale platforms such as Vivid Seats are offering Friday passes—featuring Tyla’s performance—starting at $1,151 (around R22,366) per person.

This performance marks Tyla’s official Coachella debut after she was forced to cancel her 2023 appearance and several North American tour dates due to injury.

Speaking to Billboard in April 2024, the 23-year-old Johannesburg-born star reflected on the emotional toll of last year’s cancellation.

“It was difficult because I wanted to go—it’s something my team and I had looked forward to for a very long time,” she said. “It wasn’t an easy choice, but it was the right one. When I return and dance again, I want to give a truly spectacular show.”

With her long-awaited moment finally here, Tyla is ready to captivate the global stage and fly the South African flag high.
