As a fully qualified FGASA professional at Mabula Private Game Reserve, Loni has made a lasting impression with his deep knowledge of wildlife and a unique talent for storytelling. His performance during a guided tour left officials in awe, demonstrating his ability to captivate and educate guests with every step.

“ we needed a passionate representative for tourist guides, and Tshepo fits the bill perfectly,” says Ms. Vukosi G. Ratshipaladza, of LEDET’s Tourist Guides Registration and Compliance team.

Loni’s path to becoming a sought-after field guide is as inspiring as it is extraordinary. Born in Bela-Bela, Tshepo’s life took a positive turn when he joined the Mabula guide training program. This opportunity offered him more than just training; it gave him a chance to step away from difficult circumstances and embrace his passion for the outdoors.

“I’m a local boy,” Loni reflects. “They took me off the streets and out of the clutches of bad things.”

The Mabula guide training program annually empowers local youth with the qualifications and career opportunities to pursue their passions in nature. For Loni, it wasn’t just about learning the ropes of guiding—it was about finding purpose, and eventually, his deep love for the environment.

Now a proud graduate of the program and a fully qualified FGASA field guide, Loni continues to inspire others with his insatiable hunger for knowledge. “This wasn’t an easy journey, but now I’m passionate about nature and the heritage we leave behind for future generations. I never stop learning.”

In today’s world, where authentic experiences are valued more than ever, Loni’s journey is proof that with the right opportunities and commitment, one can not only transform their own life but also elevate the experiences of others. His work at Mabula is more than just a career; it’s a chance to share the magic of the bush with visitors and leave a lasting impact on the safari industry.
