Disney’s live-action remake of Snow White led the North American box office despite mixed reviews and pre-release controversy. The film grossed an estimated $87.3 million globally in its opening weekend, with nearly half coming from North America. However, it fell short of expectations, given its reported $270 million production budget.

The film, a reimagining of the 1937 animated classic, faced backlash over casting choices, including Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen. Debates over the portrayal of the Seven Dwarfs and political controversies surrounding the stars further fueled criticism.

While Snow White outperformed competitors like Black Bag and Captain America: Brave New World, analysts suggest audiences may be growing weary of Disney’s live-action remakes. Industry experts note that the film could still gain traction in the coming weeks, though early performance in markets like China was weak, with less than $1 million earned in its first three days.

Box office analysts predict the industry will see a turnaround with upcoming releases, including Warner Bros.’ Minecraft Movie on April 4, which is expected to attract strong family audiences.
