Rachel Kolisi’s brother, Joel Smith, has expressed deep admiration for how his sister has stepped up to raise four children, including her ex-husband Siya Kolisi’s siblings, after their split.

Rachel and Siya share two children: Nicholas (10) and Keziah (7). However, in 2014, Siya adopted his younger siblings, Liyema and Liphelo, following their mother’s tragic death in 2009. After their adoption, the siblings were warmly embraced into the Kolisi family, often seen on family holidays and vacations.

This family dynamic continued even after Rachel and Siya’s separation in October last year. Recently, Rachel took Liyema on a vacation to Australia, while Siya took all the children on a trip to Zimbabwe.

In an Instagram post, Rachel shared the emotional challenges she faced on her first Valentine’s Day following the breakup. Reflecting on the heartache, she acknowledged how overwhelming it felt, but also expressed the love she continues to show every day, despite the pain.

“We do love every day anyway. But this Valentine’s Day I made a brave decision and it broke my heart all over again. Parenting when the world feels like it’s crumbling around you is a different kind of challenge. And one I hope I’ll never have to experience at this level again,” she said in the heartfelt post.

She went on to share how difficult the week had been, but also how she managed to get through it with the support of a few close friends and family. “One day at a time felt too big this week so I just did one hour at a time and it kinda helped – I made it to Saturday!”

Rachel’s vulnerability resonated with many, as her family and friends flooded the comments with messages of support. Her brother, Joel, praised her strength, saying the four children were “very, very lucky” to have her.

“All four of those kids are very, very lucky to have you,” Joel wrote.

Social media users also expressed their admiration for Rachel. One commenter, @candy_stout, wrote, “I commend you…for sharing this makes us not feel alone in the struggle. You are amazing.” Another, @sis_busi_oe, shared, “I love how you healing loudly cz you suffered a lot silently.”

Rachel’s post also received love from other Springbok WAGs, including Marise Pollard (wife of Handre Pollard) and Anlia Etzebeth (wife of Eben Etzebeth), who left hearts under her post, showing solidarity and support during this challenging time.
