Rachel Kolisi, former CEO and co-founder of the Kolisi Foundation, has taken her dispute with the organisation to the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation, and Arbitration (CCMA), citing “constructive dismissal.”

Kolisi, who co-founded the foundation in 2019, resigned just before the Rugby World Cup final. Reports suggest she claims the foundation’s board created a work environment so intolerable that she had no choice but to step down.

According to The South African, legal documents state that Rachel Kolisi “resigned because the employer acted unfairly and made continued employment intolerable.” She is reportedly seeking either reinstatement or financial compensation.

Dispute Unfolds After Quiet Exit

Unlike high-profile departures, Rachel’s resignation was not publicly announced by the Kolisi Foundation. Instead, The Justice Desk, an NGO she worked with, first revealed the news.

“We were saddened to hear that she will no longer be CEO of the Kolisi Foundation, but we know she will continue to do incredible things,” the organisation wrote on Instagram.

Despite her exit, the foundation maintains that both Rachel and her former husband, Springbok captain Siya Kolisi, are still committed as co-founders.

Rachel Kolisi’s Role at the Foundation

According to Daily Maverick, industry insiders describe Rachel Kolisi as the true driving force behind the foundation.

“The strength of the foundation has always been the co-founders, but the vision is very clearly Rachel’s,” said an executive director of an NGO partnered with the foundation. They chose to remain anonymous, fearing potential funding repercussions.

“In this sector, you can always sense fluff coming through. Rachel is not just a figurehead. She is the real force of the foundation in terms of making the vision work,” the source added.

Link to Divorce and Social Media Controversy

Rachel Kolisi’s dispute with the foundation comes months after her highly publicised divorce from Siya Kolisi in October 2024, as reported by MDN News.

While the foundation’s board has remained silent on the matter, sources speculate that tensions arose due to Rachel’s social media activity during the split. Given her central role in shaping and managing the organisation, her departure marks a significant shift for the Kolisi Foundation.
