South African rapper and television star Nadia Nakai isn’t here for anyone policing her wardrobe — and she’s letting the world know, loud and clear.

Known for effortlessly mixing streetwear edge with high-fashion flair, Nakai has made a name for herself not just through music but also through her bold personal style. But recently, that signature look drew criticism from social media users, prompting her to set the record straight.

In a fiery Instagram video shared on a Sunday afternoon, Nakai opened with a cheeky smile:
“Here’s a rant on this Good Sunday. Cos I’m tired of y’all… Grab a pen and paper quickly.”

The playful tone didn’t last long. She quickly shifted into full clapback mode, stating:
“I will wear what I wanna wear. I’ve always been that b#tch.”

This wasn’t just about fashion — it was a declaration of self. For Nakai, what she wears is an extension of her artistic identity.
“I called my whole album ‘Nadia Naked’; the makeup brand is called ‘Naked Without’. I don’t know how you’re shocked,” she said, reminding fans and critics alike that authenticity has always been her brand.

The criticism largely stemmed from one Instagram post in particular, where a glimpse of her bum triggered a wave of judgment. Comments varied from the concerned —
“Why do you wear this kind of thing in most of your pics?”
to the downright rude —
“Showing off your buttcrack is not ladylike. Go back home and get dressed.”

But Nakai didn’t let the negativity slide. She clapped back with her usual unapologetic flair:
“So all of you people’s mothers, get out of my f#cking comments. I’m not here to raise your kids.”

One line that stood out — and quickly went viral — was her clear boundary about involving others in the debate, especially children:
“Don’t be talking about Kairo. Kairo is not on Instagram. She’s not scrolling. She’s a child. She’s supervised.”

With that, she sent a powerful message about autonomy, respect, and the exhausting trend of body policing — particularly aimed at women in the public eye.

Whether you love or hate her style, one thing is for certain: Nadia Nakai is not asking for approval. She’s living her truth, and she’s not about to dim her light for anyone’s comfort.
