South African artists Lebo M and Kagiso Lediga are making their mark on the highly anticipated “Mufasa: The Lion King” soundtrack, “Music of Mufasa.” The seven-track album, which drops worldwide on December 13, serves as a precursor to the live animated film’s release on December 20, 2024.

This prequel and sequel to the 2019 remake of the classic 1994 film “The Lion King” will feature a star-studded cast including South African actor John Kani, along with Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, who reprise their roles from the remake. New cast members include Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Mads Mikkelsen, Thandiwe Newton, Tiffany Boone, Lennie James, and Blue Ivy Carter, who makes her feature film debut.

The film, directed by Barry Jenkins, continues the story in the Pride Lands of Tanzania, as Rafiki narrates the origin story of Mufasa and Taka to Kiara, Simba and Nala’s daughter.

Lebo M, an iconic South African composer, features prominently on the soundtrack with the song “Ngomso,” while Kagiso Lediga contributes vocals on “We Go Together,” alongside Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Tiffany Boone, and Preston Nyman.

The deluxe version of the soundtrack will also include a musical score composed by Tony Award-winning Dave Metzger. Fans can look forward to hearing these original tracks in theatres when the film premieres.
