International music sensation, Chris Brown, is set to bring his dynamic performance to Johannesburg’s FNB Stadium this weekend, making his highly anticipated return to Mzansi. After the announcement in September that the superstar would be performing on December 14 and 15, fans have been buzzing with excitement—and some concern—about safety in the surrounding areas of the venue.

As the event draws closer, concertgoers have raised concerns over safety, particularly given past incidents at the venue. Notably, the 2018 Global Citizen Festival at FNB Stadium ended in some people being robbed at a nearby petrol station while waiting for transport. In response to safety inquiries, Big Concerts, the event organizers, have assured that safety measures have been significantly increased.

“We absolutely have,” said Big Concerts in response to a query about enhanced security, adding, “Your safety is always our top priority.” The organizers revealed that they’ve taken extensive precautions to ensure a secure experience, with visible security personnel throughout the premises and additional lighting to illuminate the outer areas of the stadium. They are also working closely with the South African Police Service and local security to ensure the event remains safe for all attendees.

Concertgoers are advised to plan ahead, with Big Concerts encouraging early arrival to avoid queues and congestion. Several transport options will be available, including Park-and-Ride services, the Gautrain, e-hailing services, and available parking. A temporary Park-and-Ride station will be set up within walking distance of the stadium, with security personnel deployed to assist attendees.

The Park-and-Ride tickets, available on Ticketmaster, will include return transport and free undercover parking. Bus departures will begin at 3pm, with the last bus leaving the stadium at 10:30pm. The dedicated E-hailing and Drop-and-Go zone near Nasrec will be well-lit and monitored by security, ensuring the safety of concertgoers in this area.

Gates will open at 4pm, with the supporting artist (yet to be revealed) taking the stage at 7pm. Chris Brown will perform at 8pm, promising an unforgettable night for all in attendance.
