EFF MP Carl Niehaus remains untroubled by public criticism of the 34-year age difference between him and his wife, Noluthando Mdluli. Despite the backlash, Niehaus stresses that their age gap has never been a concern in their relationship, emphasizing that love and respect are the foundation of their marriage.

Love Beyond Age

Niehaus dismissed the negative comments, stating that they have no impact on his happy marriage. “The age gap makes absolutely no difference; it has never been a problem,” he told TimesLIVE. He described his relationship with Mdluli as a loving and caring partnership, and one that has weathered both good and challenging times.

Their Love Story

Carl Niehaus has been open about his relationship with Mdluli on social media, regularly sharing photos and stories of their life together. The couple met in 2020 at a shop in Rosebank, where he approached her, and two years later, they tied the knot in 2022. He fondly recalled their first meeting, saying, “She was buying something at the shop, and I invited her out. The rest is history.”

Since then, their relationship has blossomed. Niehaus considers Mdluli’s seven-year-old son as his own, reflecting the depth of their bond. On the possibility of expanding their family, Niehaus mentioned that they haven’t discussed having more children yet due to their busy work commitments.

Unfazed by Criticism

Niehaus, previously married to Jansie Lourens, whose marriage ended in divorce in 2002, remains confident in his relationship with Mdluli. He is unbothered by external opinions, focusing instead on the strength of their connection.

“We are happily married and happy in love. The age gap makes absolutely no difference,” he reiterated.

Carl Niehaus and Noluthando Mdluli’s relationship demonstrates that love knows no boundaries, including age. Despite criticism, their unwavering bond serves as an example that true love transcends societal expectations.
