According to Pnet, month-on-month local hiring activity dropped by 5% from August to September 2024. Year-on-year, there’s been a 6% decrease compared to September 2023, with recruitment activity over the past two years showing a total decline of 17%.

    • The manufacturing sector experienced a 66% increase in hiring from August to September and a 25% rise year-on-year. This growing demand reflects the need for assembly and production staff to support South Africa’s industrial output.
