Steenberg Wines, one of South Africa’s most iconic wine estates, has unveiled a new visual identity for its flagship range—an elegant blend of history and contemporary sophistication.

The new wine labels mark a significant shift for the Constantia-based winery, rooted in a legacy that dates back to 1682. Known for its premium wines and deep historical roots, Steenberg’s rebrand reflects a thoughtful evolution that embraces both its past and its position in the modern luxury wine market.

A Heritage Reimagined

The redesigned labels for The Black Swan Sauvignon Blanc and Catharina Red Blend are more than just a fresh look—they’re a statement of intent. According to Carryn Wiltshire, Steenberg Wines’ Marketing Manager, the update represents “a visual and tactile representation of the elegance and craftsmanship that define our wines.”

The new design features soft nude tones, accented by deep green and rich purple hues selected from Steenberg’s updated corporate palette. Each label also includes an embossed image of the historic wine cellar, along with symbolic nods to Catharina Ras—Steenberg’s pioneering founder—and the estate’s signature swans.

“These labels speak to refinement, depth, and sophistication,” adds Wiltshire. “They’re designed to stand out, capturing the attention of both seasoned collectors and a younger audience seeking authenticity and luxury.”

Steenberg Wines’ story is steeped in resilience and innovation. Founded by Catharina Ras—believed to be the Cape’s first female landowner—Steenberg has consistently championed a spirit of boldness and excellence. Today, that same ethos is alive in every bottle and now, in every label.

The estate benefits from its prime location in South Africa’s oldest wine-producing region, where cool Atlantic breezes and ancient soils provide ideal conditions for crafting elegant Sauvignon Blancs and structured red blends.
