South Africa’s G20 Presidency: A Turning Point for Africa and Global Business

Published

on

South Africa has made history as the first African nation to assume the presidency of the G20, signaling a transformative moment for the continent’s role in global policy and economic leadership.

“This is a critical time for businesses and governments to collaborate on solutions to pressing global challenges, including sustainable economic growth, resilient supply chains, and digital transformation,” said Kendra Gaither, President of the U.S. Africa Business Center at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

South Africa’s G20 leadership not only elevates Africa’s voice in global policymaking but also creates an opportunity to champion initiatives that drive economic inclusion and innovation. The country’s presidency will focus on fostering investment, advancing trade facilitation, and addressing global challenges that impact businesses and governments worldwide.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, alongside Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) and Brazil’s CNI, will play a pivotal role in the B20 troika. This collaboration aims to promote policies that encourage innovation, expand trade opportunities, and enhance economic resilience.

With the U.S. set to take on the G20 presidency in 2026, the U.S. Chamber is committed to ensuring continuity. Through its engagement with policymakers and private sector leaders, it aims to advance global prosperity and foster job creation during South Africa’s tenure.
