Siemens Energy Celebrates 5 Years of Driving Sustainable Power Solutions Worldwide

Published

on

Siemens Energy has reached a major milestone—five years as an independent global energy player—while staying true to its historic mission: energizing society with innovation and sustainability.

Although the company was formally launched in 2020, Siemens Energy’s roots run deep, dating back to the founding of Telegraphen Bau-Anstalt von Siemens & Halske in 1847. From pioneering the first electric locomotive in 1879 to building South Africa’s first power plant in 1895, Siemens has long been at the forefront of energy innovation.

Today, more than 100,000 Siemens Energy employees in over 90 countries are helping the world transition to cleaner power—through green hydrogen projects, natural gas plants, and carbon capture technologies.

“That same drive to energise society has never faded,” said CEO Christian Bruch.

Building a Resilient and Sustainable Energy Future

In just five years, Siemens Energy has emerged as a leader in low-emission power generation and transmission, helping meet rising global energy demand while tackling climate challenges head-on.

“Energy demand isn’t just growing—it is transforming,” Bruch added. “We have the technology, the experience, and the people to build that transforming energy world.”

This transformation is evident in Siemens Energy’s latest global projects:

Powering Saudi Arabia’s Transition to Net-Zero

Siemens Energy recently secured a US$1.6 billion contract in Saudi Arabia to deliver gas-fired power technologies for Rumah 2 and Nairyah 2 power plants. These plants will contribute a massive 3.6 gigawatts to the national grid and are designed to be carbon-capture ready.

“This supports Saudi Arabia’s 2060 net-zero goal,” said Ahmed ElSerry, Head of Gas Services Sales, Middle East. “We’re also enhancing local production at our Dammam Hub—creating jobs and technical expertise in the Kingdom.”

Leading Green Hydrogen Innovation in Germany

In partnership with utility EWE, Siemens Energy is delivering a 280-megawatt electrolysis system in Germany—capable of producing up to 23,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually.

“This is a crucial step in scaling Germany’s hydrogen economy,” said Anne-Laure de Chammard, Member of Siemens Energy’s Executive Board. “The funding support from the government confirms the industry’s readiness to deliver large-scale solutions.”

A Future Fueled by Sustainable Engineering

Siemens Energy’s five-year journey is a testament to how legacy, innovation, and sustainability can power global change. With projects spanning the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and beyond, the company is proving that the energy transition isn’t just possible—it’s already underway.

As Siemens Energy continues to modernize energy systems, reduce emissions, and localize manufacturing, it reinforces its legacy as one of the few companies truly energizing a sustainable future.
