Google Appoints Kabelo Makwane as New Country Director for South Africa
Google has announced the appointment of Kabelo Makwane, an experienced business and technology leader, as its new Country Director for South Africa. Makwane, who brings over 20 years of expertise in digital transformation and technology consulting, will officially step into his role on 6 January 2025.
A Proven Leader in Technology
Currently serving as the Managing Executive for Cloud, Hosting, and Security at Vodacom Business, Makwane’s track record is marked by influential roles in global technology firms.
His impressive career highlights include:
- Vodacom Business: Spearheaded cloud and security solutions as a Managing Executive.
- Accenture Operations: Held the position of Managing Director for the Africa Global Unit and Technology Consulting.
- Microsoft: Served as Country Managing Director for Nigeria and Public Sector Director in South Africa.
- Cisco Systems: Led as Regional Manager for Public Sector in South Africa for five years.
Makwane’s educational background includes an MBA from Wits Business School and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, making him uniquely qualified to lead Google’s operations in South Africa during a time of rapid digital transformation.
